President Director of Bank DBS Indonesia, Lim Chu Chong, assessed that Indonesia’s economic prospects remain positive even though the world is still clouded by uncertainty.

According to him, Indonesia has big growth opportunities, especially from increasing energy needs and infrastructure development until 2060.

Some important points:
✅Electricity demand is estimated to increase from 300 TWh to more than 1,800 TWh in 2060.
✅Indonesia needs around US$169 billion in investment in the electricity sector.
✅Requires the construction of around 47,700 km of new transmission networks and 10 GW of energy storage capacity.
✅The biggest challenge is no longer demand, but how to deliver financing, viable projects and reliable energy supply.

Lim also emphasized that amidst global turmoil, superior companies are not just those with low costs, but those that are able to build resilience, diversification and operational certainty.

In your opinion, is Indonesia able to take advantage of this opportunity to become a new economic power in Asia?

Or are the challenges of financing and energy transition still the biggest obstacles?
