US Senator Urges Apple to Stay Away from Chinese Memory Chips, Security Risks in the Spotlight!

A cross-party group of US senators asked Apple to halt plans to purchase memory chips from Chinese companies CXMT and YMTC.

The two companies are on the list of entities that the Pentagon considers to have ties to the Chinese military. The senators worry that Apple will rely on suppliers deemed a risk to US national security.

Apple is known to be considering chips from the two companies amid a global supply crisis and rising memory prices due to surging demand from the AI industry.

The senators assessed that the use of these chips, even though initially only for devices sold in China, still risks expanding to the global market after passing Apple’s production process.

They also warned that Apple’s decision could:
✅Encourage other technology companies to buy Chinese chips
✅Threatens US and Korean memory manufacturers’ investments in America
✅Increasing dependence of the US technology industry on China
✅Heating up technological competition between Washington and Beijing

In your opinion, should Apple follow the US senator’s request for national security reasons?

Or is there really another reason?
