North Sumatra Provincial Government Distributes First Quarter Cigarette Tax Revenue Sharing IDR 433 Billion

Medan – The North Sumatra Provincial Government distributed funds from cigarette tax revenue sharing for the first quarter of 2026 to 33 districts/cities in North Sumatra amounting to IDR 433 billion. This amount is included in the tax underpayment distributed in 2024 and 2025.
This distribution was conveyed by the Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, when chairing a virtual meeting from the Office of the Governor of North Sumatra (Gubsu). Bobby Nasution said the distribution was divided into IDR 268 billion for this year and IDR 175 billion for the previous year’s underpayment.
Bobby emphasized that the North Sumatra Provincial Government is committed to completing all payment obligations to districts/cities totaling IDR 3.31 trillion. In 2026, distribution is planned to be carried out in three stages.

“Hopefully we can complete this obligation of Rp. 3.31 trillion in 2026. Currently it has processed around Rp. 1.77 trillion. This afternoon, funds amounting to Rp. 443 billion will be directly transferred to the accounts of each region,” said Bobby Nasution in his statement, Tuesday (5/5/2026).

On that occasion, Bobby also highlighted the fiscal condition of 33 districts/cities in North Sumatra. Based on the data presented, the realization of regional income in the first quarter on average exceeded the target by more than 15 percent.
However, he reminded regents and mayors to maintain a balance between regional income and expenditure. According to him, the gap between income and actual expenditure should not be too wide so that economic circulation in society remains optimal.
“Please upgrade the realization of income and expenditure. Don’t let the income be high but the expenditure be low. We want to ensure that the benefits of these funds are truly felt by the community through programs in the regions,” he said.
