If today we hear the word Bitcoinwhat immediately comes to mind is usually the price, profits, graphs, or people who are said to have bought it from the start and then become billionaires.
But after I delved into the history to make this documentary, I realized that almost everyone was discussing it Bitcoin pricewhile very few discuss it why Bitcoin was born.
Bitcoin did not appear in good economic times.
He was born in 2008, just as the world was experiencing one of the biggest financial crises in modern history. Big banks collapsed, millions of people lost their jobs and homes, while the government had to pour hundreds of billions of dollars into saving the financial system.
In the midst of that situation, someone with a pseudonym Satoshi Nakamotointroduced a concept that sounded impossible at the time: digital money that was not controlled by governments, could not be printed at will, and could be sent to anyone in the world without intermediaries.
Interestingly, Bitcoin’s journey after that was also full of drama.
From the most famous pizza deal in internet history, the hack of Mt. Gox, various government bans, until the collapse of FTX. Many times people say Bitcoin is dead. Time and time again Bitcoin has come back to survive.
It’s things like this that make me interested in discussing it from a historical perspective, not from a trading or price prediction perspective.
I tried to arrange Bitcoin’s journey chronologically so that viewers can understand how a nine-page whitepaper was able to give birth to a trillion-dollar industry and change the way the world views money.
If anyone is curious about the complete history, I have summarized it in documentary form.
I’m also curious about the opinions of Kaskus friends.
In your opinion, is Bitcoin still running according to Satoshi Nakamoto’s original vision as a peer-to-peer payment system? Or is it now more widely considered as an investment asset and store of value?
It’s interesting to see how one simple idea can trigger major changes in world financial history.
