Indonesia Prepares International Financial Center in Bali

Indonesia is increasingly serious about development Indonesian International Financial Center (PFII) to attract more investment and global financial institutions. On 20 July 2026a parliamentary committee approved a number of important points in the draft law regarding the creation of the international financial center.
Bali is one potential location for this project. The government wants to make Indonesia an international financial services center that can compete with regional financial centers such as Singapore and Dubai.
If approved, this plan could open up opportunities for branches of foreign banks and various international financial companies to operate in Indonesia. The Ministry of Finance estimates that the project has the potential to attract investment of approx IDR 300 trillion to IDR 500 trillion.
The draft regulations also discuss the possibility of providing various incentives for investors who meet the requirements, incl tax exemption of up to 50 years for certain investorstax exemption on income earned from outside Indonesia, as well as several other tax incentives.
In addition, the plan includes the creation of a management body, an arbitration institution, as well as a special legal mechanism to handle disputes related to international financial centers.
However, it is worth noting: This plan is still in the process of being discussed and does not mean that Bali has officially become an international financial center. Final parliamentary approval remains the next crucial stage.
