Maintain Interest Rate at 5.75%, Focus on Stabilizing Rupiah

Bank Indonesia decided to maintain BI-Rate at the level of 5.75% at the Board of Governors Meeting on 21–22 July 2026. This decision was taken amidst pressure on the Rupiah and global economic uncertainty.
Instead of raising interest rates, Bank Indonesia chose to strengthen other policies to attract foreign investment and maintain the stability of the Rupiah exchange rate. BI also provides incentives to reduce hedging costs for foreign investors and strengthen transactions using local currency with a number of partner countries.
This policy is expected to increase the flow of foreign capital to Indonesia without increasing the burden of borrowing costs for the public and business world. Bank Indonesia also continues to strive to maintain inflation and support national economic growth.
Going forward, the movement of the Rupiah will continue to be influenced by global economic conditions, the strength of the US dollar, international interest rate policies, and investor confidence in the Indonesian economy.
