After Indonesia proclaimed independence on August 17 1945, the government turned out not yet directly formed a national army. At that time the situation was still very complicated.
Japanese troops were still in Indonesia while waiting for the arrival of the Allies. On the other hand, the Dutch, through NICA, also began trying to regain control of Indonesia.
That’s why the government chose careful steps.
On August 22, 1945which was formed precisely People’s Security Agency (BKR)not soldiers.
It wasn’t until a few weeks later, to be exact 5 October 1945the government officially established People’s Security Army (TKR) as the first national military organization.
What is interesting is that the name of this organization has also changed several times.

Well, this process of change is often forgotten when discussing the history of Indonesian independence.
In fact, this is where the organization was born which later developed into Indonesian National Army (TNI)that we know until now.
Apart from that, there were two important figures who were very instrumental in building the Indonesian military organization, namely General Sudirman And Oerip Soemohardjo.
They built the Indonesian army amidst limited conditions, starting from weapons, equipment, to a very simple organization.
