In this thread, allow Miss Rora to share today’s experience. Exactly on July 7 2026, at around 11:00 WIB, Miss Rora was finally declared to have passed the open trial. Praise God, the struggle that lasted for months finally produced very happy results.
As an expression of gratitude, Miss Rora would like to hold a quiz with cendol prizes.
Before entering the quiz, let Miss Rora tell a little about the journey that Miss Rora has been on.
Since the beginning of her master’s degree, Miss Rora has had an interest in the field of herbal medicine analysis. In Indonesia, herbal medicine has been part of people’s culture for hundreds of years. Many people choose herbal medicine because it is thought to come from natural ingredients and is considered safer than synthetic drugs. However, on the other hand, there are also fraudulent individuals who add BKO to herbal medicine so that the effect is felt more quickly. This practice is certainly very dangerous.
Based on this problem, Miss Rora chose a research topic related to the detection of BKO in herbal medicine. For brief information, this research used 10 samples of herbal medicine marketed as anti-pain herbal medicine. The benefits listed on the packaging are quite varied, ranging from treating menstrual pain, toothache, headaches, joint pain, to aches and pains.
At the start of preparing the proposal, Miss Rora thought that this research would be easy. The reality is actually different. Laboratory research teaches that theory learned in the classroom often does not work as smoothly as practice in the field.
However, every obstacle actually becomes a very valuable experience.
In general, Miss Rora’s research consists of several main stages.
The first stage is an initial screening test. This stage aims to determine whether there are indications of the presence of paracetamol in the herbal medicine samples analyzed.
The next stage uses FTIR. Through FTIR, the identity of a compound can be studied based on the characteristics of the functional groups it has. Each compound has a unique infrared spectrum pattern so this method is often used as an identity confirmation technique.
So that the analytical method used can truly be scientifically justified, a method validation process is also carried out.
The first test is the specificity test. The aim is to ensure that the method is able to identify paracetamol without being disturbed by other compounds that may be present in the herbal matrix.
The next test is the precision test. Precision (intermediate and repeatability) describes the consistency of results if measurements are carried out repeatedly under the same conditions (unfortunately robustness and ruggedness tests were not carried out, bro. 
).
Apart from that, accuracy tests were also carried out. Accuracy shows how close the measurement results are to the actual value even though pure paracetamol spiking has been added.
Then, a linearity test was carried out, namely the relationship between the analyte concentration and the instrument response. A good relationship will produce an r value that is close to 1 so that it can be used for quantitative analysis.
The next stage is determining LOD and LOQ. These two parameters provide information regarding the lowest limit of a compound that can still be detected or quantified.
After all validation parameters met the requirements, the analysis continued with measuring paracetamol levels in herbal medicine samples which gave positive results. This process requires high precision, because the slightest error in weighing, dilution, or reading the instrument can affect the final research results.
As the trial approached, nervousness began to emerge. Even though the material has been studied many times, questions still arise in the mind regarding possible questions from the examining lecturers and students present.
Unlike the closed session in the previous thread which was only attended by examining lecturers, the open session was also attended by students. The atmosphere certainly felt different because there were more participants present. This made me have to really understand each part of the research in order to be able to explain the entire process systematically.
This morning the long awaited day finally arrived. Miss Rora arrived early to make sure all the court equipment was ready for use. After entering the courtroom, the nervousness was still there, but slowly turned into enthusiasm when the presentation began.
During the presentation of the research results, Miss Rora tried to explain the research background, the methods used, the results of method validation, and a coherent discussion of the analysis results. After the presentation was finished, the question and answer session was quite interesting. The questions asked by lecturers and students were not only related to research results, but also regarding the reasons for choosing the method, the advantages of KLT-Densitometry compared to other methods in the research context, interpretation of the FTIR spectrum, and possible future research developments.
For Miss Rora personally, the discussion session was actually the most memorable part because it provided many new points of view that she might not have thought of before.
After the entire series of trials was completed, the most tense moment arrived, namely waiting for the results of the trial decision.
After several minutes that felt very long it finally paid off when Miss Rora was revealed PASSED 
.
The feeling of gratitude that is felt is difficult to explain in words. All the processes that were very tiring for me finally reached a happy point.
As a 26 year old woman who is still single, this achievement is one of the important moments in Miss Rora’s life journey. Not just because he obtained a master’s degree, but because this trip taught him the meaning of patience, thoroughness, consistency, and the importance of maintaining scientific integrity.
Through this research, Miss Rora is also increasingly aware that the safety of herbal medicine is a shared responsibility. The public has the right to obtain products that are safe, of good quality and in accordance with applicable regulations. Therefore, monitoring of the possibility of adding BKO to herbal medicine needs to continue to be carried out with the support of validated analytical methods so that test results can be trusted.
Miss Rora hopes that this simple research can provide benefits, both as additional scientific information for the public and as a reference for further research related to BKO analysis in herbal medicine products.
