Dedi Mulyadi Talks about the Fate of the Rp. 250 Million Competition to Capture Taufik Hidayat

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi opens his voice regarding the fate of the Rp. 250 million competition to arrest Taufik Hidayat, a suspect in the case of confining and torturing a woman with the initials YTR (29) in Bandung.
It is known that Taufik was arrested by joint police personnel in the Bandung Regency area, West Java, Tuesday (23/6), after being on the run since the case of his confinement and abuse was revealed.
According to Dedi, the competition was previously intended for residents. He will also discuss with the West Java Regional Police Chief about the prize because the police officers who arrested him were not citizens.

“Now the police found it, we’ll talk about it later,” said Dedi in Garut, Wednesday (24/6).
“I’m afraid there will be elements who violate it because these are the officers. Later I will meet with the Regional Police Chief,” he explained.

Dedi also appreciated the Western team for successfully capturing Taufik in a short time.

“Firstly, I would like to thank you. Last night I expressed my thanks to the Regional Police Chief, that Taufik Hidayat was arrested so quickly,” he said.

He hopes that Taufik will receive appropriate punishment for what he did.

“Yes, the punishment is commensurate with his actions. That is heavy, you know. It is left to the judge on the basis of the actions done. It must be the most severe punishment from the existing articles,” said Dedi.

YTR was allegedly abused and held captive by his lover Taufik Hidayat for 3 years in his boarding room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency, West Java. The 29-year-old woman suffered serious injuries such as not being able to see normally, having a cleft lip, having difficulty speaking, and even being unable to walk.

The family reported the alleged abuse case to the West Java Regional Police on Friday, June 12 2026. The victim’s sister, Melanie Silviani, said that the victim is currently still being treated intensively at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung City.
