The Indonesian government has established the National Cassava Center in Lampung as part of efforts to strengthen the cassava industry and increase national agricultural productivity.
The new center is expected to become an important hub for research, innovation and development of the cassava sector. Researchers and agricultural experts can carry out various studies to develop superior cassava varieties, study more efficient cultivation methods, and look for ways to increase crop yields.
This initiative is also expected to provide greater support to cassava farmers through access to better agricultural knowledge, modern technology and more effective production methods. Increasing productivity is important because cassava is widely used in Indonesia for various needs, including food products, animal feed, tapioca flour, and various industrial purposes.
Apart from increasing production, the government also wants to develop cassava into a stronger and more competitive agricultural commodity. Better research and more modern agricultural methods can help improve the quality of cassava, overcome various production challenges, and open up opportunities to develop processed cassava products with higher economic value.
The establishment of this center is also part of Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen food security, support farmers, increase domestic agricultural production, and develop the economy in the agricultural sector. If managed effectively, the National Cassava Center can play an important role in modernizing Indonesia’s cassava industry and creating greater opportunities for farmers in the future.
