In this case, the prosecutor charged Nadiem with a sentence of 18 years in prison.
The prosecutor also asked the judge to impose a fine of IDR 1 billion, as well as compensation amounting to IDR 809.59 billion and IDR 4.87 trillion.
Prosecutors assessed that Nadiem was proven to have abused his authority in procuring Chromebooks, including allegedly directing technical specifications that made the Indonesian education ecosystem dependent on certain products.
Apart from that, the prosecutor also said that there was an alleged flow of Rp. 809 billion in funds linked to the project.
During the trial, the prosecutor also mentioned the alleged malicious intent or mens rea which was recorded in the WhatsApp group “Mas Minister Core Team”, as well as the alleged transfer of officials who rejected technical studies related to Chrome OS.
Now, the public is waiting to see whether the judge will grant the prosecutor’s demands or give a different verdict.
In your opinion, will Nadiem’s sentence be in line with the prosecutor’s demands, lighter, or will there be other surprises?
