While it may seem like the PlayStation 5 has only just launched, Sony already has plans for a next-generation console, albeit an unnamed one, let’s just say it’s the PlayStation 6.
Documents Sony filed with the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in opposition to the pending Microsoft-Activision deal refer to Sony’s next system.
The anticipated date has been redacted in some places, but by piecing together the context elsewhere in the documents, we get a pretty clear picture of the timeframe Sony is working towards.
Certainly, a lot can change between now and then. The PS5 was incredibly hard to find until recently due to a chip shortage.
Sony may be stretching this generation a little longer to generate more sales.
